Well there's no other choice...
I'll Just Have To Chop A Lump Off And Try Again
Howdo all, back to the fight we go then...
Now, as pointed out by a sharp eyed associate (well spotted Bar!) there are thre different sizes of canards depending on wether it's Talon 1, 2 or 3.
As demonstrated in the screen caps below...





So then, how to deal with this issue.
Well the best way i could see was to do a chop job on the forward part of the canards
and then use them to make copies off to make the front end parts for all three Talons.
So out with a circular saw blade on the mini-drill and hack the forward parts away.
That done, the flat sides still on the fuselage were cleaned up and faced with some 10thou plasticard and a couple of smaller pieces glued in.

Now the reason for the 'step bit' is so the parts will have an alignment lug of sorts to fit onto.
This was created as follows...
First, a brushed on coating of a mould relase agent. It's a blue pva like substance for use in fiberglass moulding.
Just brush on and leave to dry. Water thin and disolves on water contact.

The stuff left to dry, then taking the cut off lumps...

A dab of car repair putty along the face of what will be the joint and then push the parts gently on and align, leave to cure.

Dry sand then wet sand to finish to smooth.
Once happy with finish then gently and carefully work the part untill the bond starts to break, a few drops of water on the join line and continue untill...

One canard part with it's recessed fitting lug which happens to match nicely with the facia on the fuselage edge.



And a lightly placed return of part.
Trust me this was just placed back in position gently, with a slight push, it snaps in very tightly.

So some filling and priming and the canard parts are almost ready to go under rubber for casting.

Two pairs of these will be cast first.
One pair will be cut back to make the canard parts for Talon 3.
The other pair will be added to to make the parts for Talon 1. Then they will go under rubber for casting.

So then, last little bit for this update, some more fiddlin' about with the nose, namely some more scribing & rivet work etc and so on.
Had a play with the brightness and contrast, sometimes grey just doesn't want to photograph well but thems' the breaks so apologies for the poor photography.
One day i'll get it right, not going to be today though :)
Still not as smooth as it could be in some areas but we'll get there in the end if it kills me...and that's not too far from the fact.











And that be that, I'll be doing a lot more tinkering about with this beastie so untill next update time...
