Okedoke, sorry about the lack of showing lately here on the site.Other things have decended upon yours truly like a ton of bricks so stuff to sort.
That said, i have been up to some odds and sods i'll have you know!.


Matter Removal...In A Somewhat Violent Fashion.
Ok, well all the parts for the top and bottom fuselage were clamped together and left for a couple of days to sort it out amougst themselves and upon my return, my best gouging chisels were given a quick spin across some oil stones just to make sure they were up to the job then...
it was certainly chisel and mallet time...

OH BY CRIKEY WAS IT EVER!





All this was of course resulted in much floor sweeping...repeated several times infact.

Ahem!...Moving on, it was about this point some consideration had to be given to the casting lark. Namely how to cast the fuselage.
Well in all honesty i could see only one way around this and the lateral split would have to have some help. So it was after some self debating that i wrapped the bottom in some clear plastic,
cling film or saran wrap i think it's also called, screwed the bottom to the top and then i attached by way of epoxy steel glue, some 6mm square strips of styrene.
These will make the razor edge down the nose and form a lip/recess which the bottom part would fit into.
So after some heating of plastic to conform to the curve, the sticky gear and mucho elastic bands were brought into play.
After curing, bands removed, cling film torn off, bottom removed and hey presto one lipped fitment for top and bottom...yeah i know it all looks crude and rough as 20 miles o' bad road but it will serve the purpose trust me.











Right then, Much final shaping to be done and that is an ongoing thing once i sort the sanding dust extracion out and that is in the works.
For now, i was in need of the rough shape plugs for the tails and wings.

Working as i do with what i have, the quickest solution was some large scrap sheets of clear plastic of unkown type laying about the place.
Did i have the right thicknesses to hand?
Did i buggery like, all 2mm thick dammit.

So in usual fashion, i cut all the necessary parts and got to laminating the stuff together. Lotsa MEK later and with the able assistance of clamps, 40 mm thick chipboard worktop off cuts and a couple of housebricks, the deed was done. The blank tail parts, 4mm thick and ready for the carving thing.



The wings were another deal, cutting out the parts needed with sone end shape in rough aerofoil outline, the laminate got some severe grinding upon it, the slapping on of much putty and even more grinding. The rough shapes ending up about right 'fore refinement.









Well much faffing about still to be done. The main master to be smoothed of and shaped, resin coated and then detailed. Wings and tail likewise and canards to be built. Then comes the intakes, engines and rear exhausts...once that's done then onto the cockpit and pilot nonsense.

It's all good fun..and i have that written in big letters on the ceiling of the hellhole.
