Castings here, plastics there...
Fill, Pin And Sand Bloody Everywhere!
Heyho folks.
Well just so you know i haven't forgotten you lot, a swift update for your viewing boredom.

Ok now, just a lead in detail, working a few things out which takes time so a lot of faffing about in between piccie taking.
Not to say i haven't been up to anything...
Honest...
No, really...
Would i lie to you?

To begin with, since the canard parts for Talon 2 turned out rather splendidly, it's time to turn ones attention to the others.
Namely the long parts for the Talon 1 and the dinky wee bits for Talon 3.
So first up, Talon 1 parts.
Taking two of the first four bits out of the mould, the leading edge was trimmed back and some 2mm plastic was sliced up with the able assistance of a paper template.

First the template was cut out and using the photo mount spray, plastered onto a scrap lump of said plastic, duly hacked out and a quick test for fit.





Using some steel dressmaking pins suitably hacked down to about 20mm, these were used along with a decent drop of cyano to pin the resin cast part to the plastic part.

A bit of grinding down here and there, some heat application, a light sanding and a few lines scribed, the rough work out was done.

Then of course, there is the inevitable but very necessary forming the mating surfaces.
This turned out to be a bit of a bugger but come round to my way of thinking in the end.
Not to say it didn't give up without a fight but that be nothing unusual.
Suffice to say, it was a putty up thing with a release agent to make a decent fitting/mating surface
Gently break away and sand to shape...
Then fill and sand all the surface defects...
Then prime...
Repeat the surface defect thing, and so on untill satisfied...
Rescribe panel lines and prime a final coat.

Then the final testing fit.



Sweet!

So that dealt with, on to the canard parts for Talon 3.

Now then, thing about the Talon 3 canards is that unlike the others, the outer 'tip' is canted in somewhat rather than almost parallel to the fuselage.

Still, all part of the fun but that left me in need of a slight re-think...
I hate that!
So, the inevitable trim down, add a lump and reshaping was the order of the day.
So, took a pair of the cast ones and chopped a lump off each.

I came to the easiest solution i could without a major reworking of the fuselage canard stubs and it all ended up like this...






In the end we finally have the canard parts for all three Talons.
Namely Talon 1...
Talon 2...

And last but by no means least, Talon 3...

So perfection personified it may not be but since the batteries have run out in my magic wand, best i can do for now :)

Time for the rubber & resin slingin' section to go into full swing and that be your lot for this round of hellhole happenings people!
